COL BKB: Georgetown 74, Saint John's 42

NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Vernon Macklin scored a career-high 18 points Wednesday, leading sixth-ranked Georgetown's 74-42 decimation of outmanned Big East foe Saint John's.

The winners began the contest with an 18-2 run and their lead by halftime swelled to 41-14.

Fueled by three lay-ins by seven-foot center Roy Hibbert, Georgetown (17-2, 7-1 Big East) scored the first 12 points of the second half to make its lead 53-14 with 15 minutes left and coasted home.

Hibbert had 11 points and six rebounds.

Jessie Sapp scored 10 points and all of the 10 players who dressed for the Hoyas scored in their fourth win in a row.

Justin Burrell and Anthony Mason Jr. scored nine points each to lead the Red Storm (7-12, 1-7), who suffered their sixth straight loss in the largest margin of defeat for Saint John's in a Big East game.
