ADELAIDE, Australia, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Opener Virender Sehwag hit a hefty 151 in the second innings Monday, allowing India to force a draw on host Australia in the fourth and final test.
The Australians, however, took the test series by virtue of their 2-1 lead coming into the fourth test at Adelaide.
Returning to form, Sehwag dominated the play Monday, saving India from second inning collapse that would have handed the match to the hosts.
India was at 269 for seven wickets before both teams decided to call off play on the final day and declare a draw.
Although the Adelaide battle produced no result, the match will be remembered as the farewell test appearance for Adam Gilchrist, Australia's star wicketkeeper-batsman.
The final scores on the fourth test were India 526 and 269 for 7 and Australia 563.
