PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Kyle McAlarney scored a game-high 30 points Saturday, keying Notre Dame's 90-80 upset of 18th-ranked Villanova.
Notre Dame spotted Villanova the game's first four points but a 10-0 spurt led to a 10-4 lead that grew to 39-29 at halftime.
The winners led by as many as 16 points (57-41) on a three-pointer by Ryan Ayers with 12:28 left and Villanova never recovered.
Luke Harangody had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Rob Kurz added 12 points for the Fighting Irish (14-4, 4-2 Big East), who had dropped two of their previous three contests.
Villanova was led by Antonio Pena's 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Corey Fisher and Scottie Reynolds scored 13 points apiece for the Wildcats (13-5, 3-4), who have lost two in a row.
They lost despite out-rebounding the Irish 38-31.
In a rare coincidence, neither team was credited with a turnover.
