NHL: Montreal 4, New Jersey 3

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Christopher Higgins scored the game-winner Thursday in the Montreal Canadiens' 4-3 victory against the New Jersey Devils.

Higgins' 16th goal this season came at 14:31 of the third period when Montreal scored three times to overcome a 3-1 deficit.

Montreal's Brian Smolinski scored twice and Saku Koivi once.

Christobal Huet needed to stop 10 of only 13 shots for the Canadiens, who head into the all-star break with two straight wins and six of eight overall after ending a 10-game winless streak at the Meadowlands.

They last won at New Jersey Feb. 5, 2002 and head into this season's NHL all-star break with a 17-7-3 road record.

New Jersey got two goals from left wing Patrick Elias and one from Jamie Langenbrunner (power play in the second).

Martin Brodeur yielded four goals on 32 shots for the Devils, who have lost three of five.
