PITTSBURGH, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Alexander Semin scored the winning goal in the final round of a shootout Monday, delivering the Washington Capitals a 6-5 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Olaf Kolzig finished with just 10 saves for Washington, which earned its first victory in Pittsburgh in more than five years.
Conklin got the loss in net for giving up one goal on 17 shots in regulation and the game-winner in the shootout. He came in after starting goalie Dany Sabourin was pulled after giving up four goals on 13 shots.
The Penguins are one point ahead of Philadelphia and New Jersey for first place in the Atlantic Division.
