MELBOURNE, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Roger Federer survived a five-set battle with Janko Tipsarevic Saturday to advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open.
Federer, the tournament's top-seeded, three-time champion, outlasted the 49th-ranked Serb 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-1), 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 in a match that lasted nearly 4 1/2 hours, longest of the Swiss star's career.
