The quarterback is listed as doubtful, the newspaper said.

Rivers was reported to have a right-knee sprain. The newspaper said it learned from sources that a torn ligament also was found.

The quarterback was on the practice field for the first time this week Friday, wearing a brace on the knee.

"It'll be day-to-day," General Manager A.J. Smith said.

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is also listed as doubtful for Sunday. Gates has a dislocated toe.
