MIAMI, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- The Florida Marlins Wednesday signed 6-foot-9-inch left-hander Mark Hendrickson, a veteran of both Major League Baseball and the NBA, to a one-year contract.
The 31-year-old Hendrickson, who had been a free agent, pitched last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, going 4-8 with an ERA of 5.21.
Hendrickson has also pitched for Toronto and Tampa Bay. His overall record is 43-55 with an ERA of 5.01.
"Mark gives us another quality left-handed arm in our rotation, and his experience and veteran leadership should benefit our clubhouse," Marlins Manager Fredi Gonzalez said.
From 1996 to 2000, Hendrickson played parts of four seasons with four NBA teams: Philadelphia, Sacramento, New Jersey and Cleveland.
