COL BKB: Massachusetts 82, Dayton 71

DAYTON, Ohio, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Chris Lowe put Massachusetts in front midway through the second half Wednesday and the Minutemen went on to surprise No. 14 Dayton 82-71.

Dayton had a 13-game winning streak come to an end.

Ricky Harris scored 22 points and Lowe had 19 for Massachusetts (12-4, 1-1 Atlantic 10). The Minutemen had lost their last two games.

Dayton (14-2, 2-1) was led by Brian Roberts with 21 points and Marcus Johnson with 15 and 13 rebounds. The Flyers tried 25 shots from three-point range and made only four.

Massachusetts built a seven-point lead during the early stages of the second half only to see Dayton go on an eight-point run that gave the Flyers a 57-56 advantage with 10:10 remaining.

Lowe then made two free throws to put the Minutemen in front for good and his three-pointer with 4:47 to play gave Massachusetts an eight-point cushion.
