NHL: Philadelphia 6, Washington 4

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Mike Knuble scored twice for Philadelphia Sunday, giving the Flyers an early lead en route to a 6-4 win over the Washington Capitals.

Knuble's first-period goals put the Flyers on top 2-1 and Washington never caught up.

Kimmo Timonen added a goal and assist for Philadelphia, which also got goals from Jim Dowd, R.J. Umberger and Mike Richards. Martin Biron blocked 28 shots for the Flyers, who have won four of their last five games.

Alex Ovechkin, Michael Nylander, Mike Green and Alexander Semin scored for Washington.
