NHL: San Jose 3, Vancouver 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Evgeni Nabokov had to make only 20 saves Thursday in carrying the San Jose Sharks to a 3-1 decision over Vancouver.

The Sharks won for the sixth time in seven games and moved into a share of the lead with Dallas in the Pacific Division.

San Jose scored once in each of the first two periods -- getting goals from Craig Rivet and Jeremy Roenick to make it 2-0.

Milan Michalek scored the Sharks' second power-play goal of the game 6:15 into the third and Nabokov took a shutout into the final 10 minutes.

Ryan Kesler broke up the shutout bid with a slap shot with 7:35 to play.

Roberto Luongo made 28 saves for the Canucks, who began a stretch of four road games in five outings.
