NHL: Minnesota 5, Chicago 2

CHICAGO, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Marian Gaborik put Minnesota in front as part of a three-goal second period Friday and the Wild handed Chicago its eighth straight loss 5-2.

The game was tied at 1-1 through one period, but Minnesota took charge in the second, beginning with Gaborik's 23rd goal of the season with 9:23 left in the stanza. He fired a slap shot past Nikolai Khabibulin, who allowed all five goals on just 16 shots.

Pierre-Marc Bouchard gave the Wild a two-goal lead on the power play with 6:44 left and Mark Parrish scored a backbreaker with only one second to play in the period.

Josh Harding made 39 saves to record the win.

Minnesota has won two in a row after dropping two straight.
