NHL: Columbus 6, St. Louis 4

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Nikolai Zherdev scored twice in the third period Friday to help the Columbus Blue Jackets pull away for a 6-4 victory over St. Louis.

Jason Chimera and Dan Fritsche both had a goal and an assist while Adam Foote and David Vyborny contributed three assists each. Pascal Leclaire stopped 26 shots in the Blue Jackets' first win in three outings.

St. Louis had a three-game winning streak snapped. Hannu Toivonen allowed all six goals on 37 shots.

Columbus rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie it at 3-3 early in the third period, but Columbus produced goals 78 seconds apart to take control.

Zherdev skated through the defense and put a bouncing shot through the pads of Toivonen with 5:57 to play. Fritsche then blasted a slap shot that gave Columbus a two-goal advantage.

Zherdev's second goal, a backhander during a power play, came with 1:57 to go.
