SEATTLE, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Aron Baynes had 16 points and four rebounds and Kyle Weaver had 13 points and seven boards Saturday, leading No. 4 Washington State past Washington 56-52.
Derrick Low scored 11 for the Cougars (13-0, 1-0 Pac-10).
Tim Morris had 16 points and five rebounds and Jon Brockman had 14 points and 17 rebounds for Washington (9-5, 0-1), which committed 14 turnovers and lost for the first time in six games.
Quincy Pondexter got the Huskies to within 53-50 with just under three minutes to play, and then Washington cut the lead to one point when Justin Dentmon hit one of two free throws a minute later.
Weaver put the Cougars back up by two at 54-52 when he hit one of two from the free-throw line with 27 seconds left, and then iced the game with two more free throws in the closing seconds.
