NBA: Phoenix 104, Seattle 96

PHOENIX, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Amare Stoudemire scored 34 points Thursday and the Phoenix Suns rallied from a 20-point deficit after one period to defeat Seattle 104-96.

Phoenix won its fourth in a row, battling back with the help of 17 points and 10 assists from Steve Nash.

Seattle stormed to a 33-13 advantage after the opening quarter, but eventually dropped its sixth out of eight.

The SuperSonics were within 98-94 down the stretch. Raja Bell then made two free throws and Stoudemire added a lay-up and two foul shots to expand the Phoenix lead.

Kevin Durant led Seattle with 28 points and Earl Watson had 20.

The Suns climbed within two at halftime and had built a nine-point lead by the end of the third period.
