NBA: Dallas 121, Golden State 99

DALLAS, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki led a fourth-quarter surge Wednesday that sent Dallas storming past Golden State 121-99.

Nowitzki scored 29 points, and Josh Howard added 19 points and 13 rebounds. Dallas won its second straight and its seventh out of 10.

Devin Harris contributed 17 points, Jerry Stackhouse had 16 and Erick Dampier 13.

Golden State, which had won its previous two games, was paced by Stephen Jackson with 25.

The Warriors were within four at the end of three quarters, but the Mavericks opened the final period with an 11-point run. Nowitzki hit a three-pointer with just under five minutes left to give Dallas a 19-point lead.

Golden State had won in each of its previous four trips to Dallas, but allowed the Mavericks to shoot 54 percent Wednesday.
