NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Defensive end Marcus Howard scored on a fumble recovery and logged three sacks Tuesday as Georgia whipped Hawaii 41-10 in the Sugar Bowl.
Howard, who also deflected a pass resulting in an interception, led the fourth-ranked Bulldogs' defense that sacked previously unbeaten No. 10 Hawaii's quarterback, Colt Brennan, eight times and forced six turnovers.
Georgia (11-2) also got two touchdowns from Knowshon Moreno, who ran for 61 yards, and one from Thomas Brown, who finished with 73 yards. Matthew Stafford completed 14 of 23 passes for 175 yards, one TD and one interception.
Brennan, a Heisman Trophy finalist, completed 22 of 38 passes for 169 yards, but was picked off three times and lost two fumbles for the Warriors (12-1), who had the nation's longest winning streak come to an end at 13 games dating back to last year's bowl win against Arizona State. It was Hawaii's first BCS bowl game appearance.
After Brennan was sacked for the eighth time, he exited with a back injury. Reserve quarterback Tyler Graunke drove Hawaii for its touchdown hitting Ryan Grice-Mullen with a 16-yard scoring pass.
Graunke ended up completing 13 of 19 for 142 yards. He also threw an interception.
