NHL: Phoenix 4, Colorado 3

GLENDALE, Ariz., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Radim Vrbata put two in the net in regulation and scored the shootout finisher Monday, lifting the Phoenix Coyotes to a 4-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche.

Steven Reinprecht also scored for Phoenix, which snapped a three-game losing streak and won the front end of a back-to-back series with Colorado.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 42 of 45 shots in the win.

Wolski, Brett Clark and Cody McLeod each scored for Colorado, which has now dropped three in a row.

Peter Budaj turned away 23 shots in the loss.
