NEW YORK, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Seven people were hurt when escalator steps caved in at Giants Stadium following the game with the New England Patriots.
"I heard a big bang, like the thing had collapsed," said Kevin Shaughnessy, of Hartford, Conn., who witnessed the escalator malfunction Saturday night.

The escalator's bottom steps fell inward, creating a ramp, and then it quickly started up again, New Jersey State Police told the New York Post.
Several people were treated at the scene for foot and leg injuries, while others were taken to a hospital with more serious injuries, including a broken leg, police said. A young girl was among those hospitalized.
The escalator malfunctioned shortly after the Patriots' 38-35 win
against the Giants.
