RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Eric Staal's 19th goal this season was the eventual game-winner Friday in the Carolina Hurricanes' 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins.
Staal scored on the power play at 3:47 of the third period to give Carolina a 4-2 advantage and the Hurricanes made it stand up.
Cam Ward stopped 18 of 21 shots for the Hurricanes, who had dropped two of their previous three games.
Overall, they have lost six of seven.
On the power play, Carolina scored once in six man-advantage situations and Boston was 0 for 3.
