PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Pitcher Roger Clemens went on the Internet Sunday to firmly deny he ever used any performance-enhancing substance.
The right-hander was the biggest name mentioned in the recent report by former U.S. Sen.George Mitchell on steroid and HGH use among baseball players.
Brian McNamee, a former strength coach for Toronto and the New York Yankees, claimed he injected Clemens with steroids in 1998 while with the Blue Jays and later while the pitcher was with the Yankees.
"Let me be clear, I did not use steroids, or human growth hormone and I've never done so," the seven-time Cy Young winner said in a video that appeared on his foundation's Web site and on YouTube.com. "I did not provide Brian McNamee with any drugs to inject into my body. Brian McNamee did not inject steroids or human growth hormones into my body either when I played in Toronto for the Blue Jays or the New York Yankees. This report is simply not true."
He said he would do an interview on the CBS news show "60 Minutes."
