DETROIT, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Juri Hudler scored the winning goal in a shootout Monday, propelling the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals.

In the first round of the shootout, Pavel Datsyuk beat Olaf Kolzig with a backhander over the left pad, while Viktor Kozlov followed for Washington with a shot off the crossbar.

Henrik Zetterberg made a goal over the left pad of Kolzig before Alexander Semin kept the shootout alive with a shot past Dominik Hasek.

Hudler, used the same move as the previous two Detroit shooters and went to the backhand to get the puck past the left pad of Kolzig for the win.

Tomas Holmstrom scored a pair of goals, while Datsyuk added three assists for the Red Wings, who have won nine of their last 10 games. Hasek made 27 saves.

Semin, Alexander Ovechkin and Jeff Schultz each had a goal for the Capitals, Kolzig made 27 saves.
