NHL: Philadelphia 8, Pittsburgh 2

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Joffrey Lupul and R.J. Umberger both scored hat tricks Tuesday, fueling the Philadelphia Flyers' 8-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Lupul had a career-high, six-point night with his three goals and three assists. Umberger also added two assists, while Mike Richards had three assists for the Flyers.

Mike Knuble had a goal and an assist for Philadelphia, which ended a five-game losing streak at home. Martin Biron made 20 saves.

Ryan Whitney and Petr Sykora scored for Pittsburgh, and Sidney Crosby had two assists for the Penguins, who had a three-game win streak snapped.

Dany Sabourin started as goalie for Pittsburgh in place of the injured Marc-Andre Fleury and allowed five goals on 25 shots over the first two periods. Ty Conklin replaced Sabourin at the start of the third, finishing with 12 saves.
