NHL: Boston 4, Buffalo 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Marc Savard had a goal and an assist and Alex Auld stopped 44 shots Monday, leading the Boston Bruins to a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

The Bruins played without goaltender Tim Thomas, who is sidelined with a groin pull, and backup Manny Fernandez, who is out with a herniated disc. That left rookie Tuukka Rask or the recently acquired Auld to fill in.
