Bills safety Wilson out for rest of season

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills safety George Wilson is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season after fracturing a pair of ribs Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

Wilson, who returned a fumble 20 yards for a score in the first quarter, was hurt on a kick return in the same period. The converted receiver left the game in the second quarter.

The Bill said Monday they don't want to put Wilson on the injured reserve just yet because the team is thin at safety. Ko Simpson started the season as the free safety, but broke his ankle in Week 5 and was put on the IR.

Jim Leonhard, who missed time earlier this season with a calf injury, is expected to take over for Wilson.

The Bills (7-6) are in the AFC wild card race. Buffalo and Tennessee have identical records, with both a game behind Cleveland, where the Bills play Sunday.
