COL BKB: Villanova 101, Temple 93

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Scottie Reynolds scored 27 points Sunday to lead No. 21 Villanova past Temple 101-93 in a Big 5 battle between Philadelphia-area schools.

Villanova held a slim 42-39 halftime advantage, and Temple stayed close in a high-scoring 59-54 second half. Villanova created some breathing room when a 21-8 spurt led to a 73-55 lead with 8:40 left.

Reynolds completed an all-around performance with nine assists and six rebounds.

Shane Clark and Antonio Pena both had 17 points and four rebounds, while Corey Fisher added 16 points and five assists for the Wildcats (7-1), who set a record with their 13th straight victory in the city series.

Temple got 24 points, six rebounds and six assists from Mark Tyndale. Ryan Brooks scored 22 points, and Dionte Christmas added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Owls (4-5), who gave up at least 100 points for just the sixth time in school history.
