Teen appears in Sean Taylor murder case

MIAMI, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The alleged shooter in the killing of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was held without bail following a brief court appearance in Miami Wednesday.

Eric Rivera, 17, was charged as an adult with murder and burglary in the November slaying that police contend was the tragic result of a burglary gone bad.

Rivera was accused in the indictment of being armed when he and the other three defendants broke into Taylor's home. The suspects reportedly believed the home was empty and were unaware Taylor and his girlfriend were asleep inside.

Three other suspects in the case made their initial court appearances Tuesday via videoconference. CNN said they remained under suicide watch in a Miami jail.
