NHL: Toronto 3, Nashville 1

TORONTO, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Toronto goalie Vesa Toskala carried a shutout deep into the third period and the Maple Leafs scored in each period Tuesday in a 3-1 victory over Nashville.

Toskala stopped 34 shots, missing only Shea Weber's shot from near the blue line with 5:55 left in the game.

Nik Antropov, Matthew Stajan and Wade Belak scored for Toronto, which won its third game in a row. Tomas Kaberle had two assists and Mats Sundin had one.

Predators goalie Chris Mason only faced 15 shots from the Maple Leafs. Jason Arnott fired 12 shots for Nashville but couldn't get one to go in.
