Groin injury sidelines Kings' Kevin Martin

SACRAMENTO, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Martin will miss 4-6 weeks because of a strained right groin.

The 6-foot-7 inch, third-year pro out of Western Carolina was injured in the third quarter of Tuesday's 117-107 victory over the Utah Jazz.

He scored a team-high 25 points before leaving the contest for good under his own power.

"Without Kevin, we definitely won't be as good," fellow forward Ron Artest told The Sacramento Bee. "But we've got to hang in there and play every possession like it's our last."

Martin is having his best NBA campaign, averaging 24.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in 17 games this season.

Sacramento's leading scorer joins forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim (sore right knee) and guard Mike Bibby (left thumb surgery) on the team's injured list.

Bibby is expected to miss 8-10 weeks.
