WINTER GARDEN, Fla., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Frank Lickliter II was the medalist Monday at the PGA Tour National Qualifying Tournament, where 26 golfers earned their PGA Tour cards.
Lickliter, who opened the tournament this past week with back-to-back rounds of 10-under 62, cruised through the final four rounds of the six-day marathon and wound up at 29-under 403.
"I was just trying to make as many birdies as I could (the first two days)," said Lickliter, who spoke to the media Monday for the first time all week.
The players who finished 27th through 79th gained full Nationwide Tour exemptions for 2008. The other players in the 166-man field received conditional status on the Nationwide Tour next year.
