Sean Taylor funeral attended by 3,000

MIAMI, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Nearly 3,000 people gathered at the Pharmed Arena in Miami Monday to remember slain Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor.

Those in attendance ranged from Taylor's wife and 18-month-old daughter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the Miami Herald reported.

Taylor, 24, was shot to death last week during a burglary at his Palmetto Bay home. Four suspects are under arrest.

"It's times like this that make all of us struggle to find the meaning in life," Goodell told the crowd.

"The NFL is proud of Sean Taylor," he added. "He loved football and football loved him back. But more important is what he was as a man and what he was becoming as a man."

Most of the crowd on Florida International University's main campus wore pins decorated with Taylor's number, 21.
