SUNRISE, Fla., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Alex Ovechkin and Brian Pothier scored for the Washington Capitals Saturday, leading them to a 2-1 victory over the Florida Panthers.

The win halted a three-game Capitals' losing streak.

Brent Johnson made 24 saves for Washington.

Branislav Mezei got Florida's lone goal and Tomas Vokoun blocked 41-of-43 shots by the Capitals.
