Badgers to play in the Outback Bowl

MADISON, Wis., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- The Wisconsin Badgers will play in the Outback Bowl Jan. 1 in Tampa, Fla., Athletic Director Barry Alvarez announced Wednesday.

It will be the 19th bowl game -- and 13th in the past 15 seasons -- for the Big Ten team (9-3). The Badgers' opponent, not yet named, will be from the Southeastern Conference.

"We're absolutely thrilled to be returning to Tampa for the Outback Bowl," Alvarez said. "It has been a tremendous destination for us the previous three times we have been there. Our players and fans have always enjoyed the Tampa area and everything the bowl brings to the table."

Wisconsin is ranked 18th in this week's BCS Poll.
