COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Nikolai Zherdev scored the game-winning goal in a shootout Saturday night to help the Columbus Blue Jackets beat Detroit 3-2.
Zherdev also scored in the first period to put Columbus up 2-0.

Manny Malhotra scored once, while goalie Pascal Leclaire stopped 23-of-25 shots, as the Blue Jackets got their second straight victory following a three-game losing streak.
Detroit got goals from Tomas Holmstrom and Pavel Datsyuk in the second period.
Goalie Chris Osgood stopped 26-of-28 shots in regulation but was beaten on the game-winner in the third round of the shootout for the Red Wings, who have dropped two straight and five of seven.
On the power play, Detroit went 1-for-3 and Columbus was 0-for-4.
