America maintains World Cup of Golf lead

SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum combined to shoot 6-under-par 66 Saturday, retaining their lead at the World Cup of Golf in Shenzhen, China.

Saturday's round featured the four-ball format, where Weekley and Slocum finished the 54 holes at 20-under 196.

They excelled just long enough to quell the challenge of hard-charging Frenchmen Raphael Jacquelin and Gregory Havret, who shot 10-under 62 to make their total 19-under 197.

Jacquelin and Havret are joined with Scotland's Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren (66).

The Americans were tied by Jacquelin and Havret when the French team birdied the 15th hole to get to 18 under par.

Both teams then made birdies to reach 19 under, but Slocum knocked his tee shot within three feet at the par-3 13th and made his birdie putt to help the Americans hold a lead they have held from the outset.

"It was a grind out there," Weekley said.

Four more teams are within five shots of the lead.
