NHL: Pittsburgh 3, N.Y. Islanders 2

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Georges Laraque scored the game-winning goal Thursday night, as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New York Islanders, 3-2.

Laraque's first goal of the season broke a 2-2 deadlock at 16:45 of the second period after an assist by high-scoring Sidney Crosby.

Laraque had not scored in 40 games.

Pittsburgh's other goals were scored by Sergei Gonchar in the first and Petr Sykora (power play) in the second.

Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26-of-28 shots for the Penguins, who broke a four-game losing streak.

New York's goals came from Mike Comrie in the first and Josef Vasicek in the second, with Vasicek's sixth goal this season creating the 2-2 tie at 8:51 of the second.

On the power play, Pittsburgh went 1-for-6, and the Islanders went 0-for-2.
