VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Ales Hemsky scored the only goal of the game on the sixth shootout attempt Wednesday, producing Edmonton's 1-0 win over Vancouver.
The teams battled through 65 minutes of scoreless hockey with Edmonton's Mathieu Garon making 29 saves and Vancouver's Roberto Luongo 19.

The first five shots in the shootout were also stopped before Hensky finally got one past Luongo with a backhand.
Garon stopped Byron Ritchie, Brendan Morrison and Ryan Kesler in the shootout while Sam Gagner and Raffi Torres were turned away for Edmonton before Hensky came through.
Vancouver had won its previous three games and had defeated Edmonton in its two prior meetings this season.
