NHL: New Jersey 4, Philadelphia 1

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Dainius Zubrus scored a go-ahead goal Thursday night as the New Jersey Devils downed the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-1.

Zubrus' first goal of the season broke a 1-1 tie at 14:46 of the first period and gave New Jersey the lead for good.

Brian Gionta, Karel Rachunek and Rod Pelley also scored, and goalie Martin Brodeur stopped 13 of just 14 shots for the Devils, who broke a two-game skid.

Philadelphia's lone goal was scored by Mike Knuble on the power play at 12:20 of the first.

Goaltenders Antero Niittymaki and Martin Biron combined to stop 35-of-39 shots for the Flyers, who have dropped two of three.

In man-advantage situations, Philadelphia went 1-for-7, and the Devils went 0-for-5.

With the loss, the Flyers sank to 0-7-2 in their last nine trips to the Meadowlands.
