BOSTON, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Tomas Plekanec had a goal and an assist Thursday night, as the Montreal Canadiens handed Boston its fourth straight loss, 2-1.

Plekanec took a pass from Andrei Kostitsyn in the slot and wristed a shot toward goaltender Tim Thomas, who got a piece of the puck. Alex Kovalev was there to tip it past Thomas for the game's first goal with 2:55 left in the first period.

Boston's only goal came from Marco Strum three minutes later.

Carey Price made 28 saves to get the win.

Boston defenseman Aaron Ward collided with Montreal's Francis Bouillon in the third period and Ward was briefly motionless on the ice. A stretcher was summoned, but Ward eventually was able to go to the locker room under his own power while being assisted by teammates.
