Tank Johnson returns from suspension

IRVING, Texas, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys activated nose tackle Tank Johnson Monday after his reinstatement from an NFL-sanctioned eight-game suspension.

Johnson will fill the roster spot of fullback Deon Anderson, who tore his rotator cuff late in Sunday night's 38-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Anderson will be placed on injured reserve, ending his rookie season, during which he had six catches for 55 yards.

Johnson, suspended by Commissioner Roger Goodell during the summer for violations of the league's personal conduct policy, was signed by Dallas Sept. 19. He was allowed to begin practicing with the team Oct. 19.

The league did not reduce Johnson's suspension so he will be available for the first time in game action when the Cowboys visit the New York Giants Sunday in an NFC East divisional showdown.

Anderson's injury left the Cowboys thin at fullback where veteran Oliver Hoyte has missed the last six games because of a neck injury.
