Detroit has played 14 games this season and Zetterberg has at least a point in all of them. That equals a franchise record at the start of the season established in the 1960-61 campaign by Norm Ulman. Zetterberg leads the NHL with 24 points.

Calgary, which has lost three out of five, failed to score on any of its seven power-play chances. Alex Tanguay scored the Flames' lone goal.

Zetterberg broke a 1-1 tie with 9:16 remaining in the first period with a one-timer that bested Miikka Kiprusoff.
