NHL: Columbus 4, Los Angeles 1

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Jason Chimera scored twice Wednesday as Columbus handed Los Angeles its first loss in five games, 4-1.

The Kings fell short in their bid to sweep a four-game homestand as the Blue Jackets scored the first three goals of the contest and then relied on the goaltending of Pascal Leclaire.

Columbus has won seven of its first 11 games, the best start in franchise history.

Chimera scored on a slap shot with 3:31 left in the first period and gave Columbus a 3-0 lead 7:24 deep in the second.

Kyle Calder gave the Kings their only goal at the 9:15 mark of the second and there was no more scoring until Rick Nash put one into an empty net with 18 seconds remaining in the game.

Leclaire made 32 saves for his sixth victory -- four of which have been shutouts. Jason LaBarbera also made 32 saves for the Kings.
