MONTREAL, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Bryan Little and Ilya Kovalchuk each scored shootout goals Tuesday, giving the Atlanta Thrashers a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
Little, the second skater for Atlanta in the extra session, beat Montreal rookie Carey Price with a backhand shot, while Kovalchuk beat the Canadiens goaltender on the third attempt.
Atlanta's goalkeeper, Johan Hedberg, stopped Tomas Plekanec's wrister, allowed a goal to Saku Koivu and watched Alex Kovalev's shot sail over the net in the shootout.
Eric Perrin and Slava Kozlov scored less than a minute apart in regulation for the Thrashers, who have posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Hedberg had 31 saves and improved his career mark to 6-0 in shootouts.
Kovalev scored on a power play and assisted on Christopher Higgins' goal. Price stopped 31 of 33 shots for Montreal, which had a season-high four-game win streak halted.
