Buffalo to start Edwards at quarterback

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Bills will give rookie Trent Edwards another start at quarterback Sunday when they face the New York Jets.

Edwards, a third-round pick by the Bills out of Stanford in this year’s NFL Draft, permanently replaces J.P. Losman.

In last Sunday’s 19-14 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, Edwards went 11-for-21 passing for 153 yards.

"We played a lot of no huddle snaps," Coach Dick Jauron said following the Ravens’ game. "He’s got some options up there and he didn’t miss much."

Edwards guided Buffalo (2-4) to a 17-14 win over the Jets in his first career start Sept. 30, and was the starter in the last-play 25-24 loss to Dallas Oct. 8.

He became the Bills’ starter when Losman suffered a sprained left knee Sept. 23 against New England.

For the season, he is 66-for-100 passing for 660 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.
