COL FB: Virginia Tech 41, Clemson 23

CLEMSON, S.C., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Tyrod Taylor rushed for 118 yards and passed for a touchdown Saturday as 14th-ranked Virginia Tech defeated 22nd-ranked Clemson, 41-23.

The Hokies (5-1, 2-0 ACC) opened a 24-3 first half advantage without scoring an offensive touchdown. They had a D.J. Parker interception return, an Eddie Royal punt return and a Nacho Harris kick return for touchdowns in the first 30 minutes.

Tigers quarterback Cullen Harper completed 38-of-66 passes -- school records for completions and attempts -- for 362 yards and a pair of touchdowns. But he threw two interceptions and had a lost fumble and three sacks.

Clemson (4-2, 2-2) had only six yards rushing. Aaron Kelly had 11 receptions for 174 yards and a touchdown, and Tyler Grisham 11 for 100 yards and a touchdown.
