MLB: Cleveland 2, NY Yankees 1 (11 inn.)

CLEVELAND, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- A bases-loaded single by Travis Hafner with two out in the 11th inning Friday night gave Cleveland a 2-1 playoff victory over the New York Yankees.

The dramatic result left the Indians with a 2-0 lead in the American League Division Series. New York will face elimination Sunday when it hosts the Indians.

The Yankees, who managed only five hits in a 12-3 loss on Thursday night, could produce just three against Fausto Carmona and Rafael Perez during Friday night's marathon.

One of the hits was a homer by Melky Cabrera that gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the third.

That was still the score going into the eighth, but with Grady Sizemore on third, New York reliever Joba Chamberlain uncorked his second wild pitch of the inning. Sizemore dashed home with the tying run.

Luis Vizcaino replaced Mariano Rivera on the mound for New York to start the 11th and promptly walked Kenny Lofton. Franklin Gutierrez followed with a single and the runners moved up on a sacrifice by Casey Blake.

Sizemore was intentionally walked to load the bases and Asdrubal Cabrera popped out. Hafner then lined a 3-2 pitch into right field, delivering the winning run.
