NHL: N.Y Rangers 5, Florida 2

NEW YORK, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Chris Drury scored the go-ahead goal Thursday night as the New York Rangers beat the Florida Panthers 5-2.

Florida had a 2-1 lead when Drury scored his first goal as a Ranger, flipping in a rebound of a Jaromir Jagr shot with 8:46 remaining. Drury also notched two assists.

Also in third, the Rangers got goals by Petr Prucha, Ryan Callahan and Martin Straka in quick succession..

Michal Rozsival also scored for New York, while goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves on 28 shots as the Rangers won the season-opener for both clubs.

Florida scored twice in the second as Brett MacLean and Nathan Horton had one goal apiece to help the Panthers build their 2-1 advantage.

Panthers' goalie Tomas Vokoun made 20 saves on 25 shots.

On the power play, Florida was 0-for-5 and the Rangers went 0-for-4.
