Razzano a winner at Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Virginie Razzano easily beat Tzipora Obziler 6-0, 6-3 Sunday to win the Guangzhou International Tennis Open at Guangzhou, China.

The second-seeded Frenchwoman won her first WTA singles title in her third career appearance in a final. She lost in the 2004 championship match at Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and dropped this season's final at Forest Hills (N.Y.) Classic.

"I came here with the goal of getting used to the conditions in Asia, to prepare for this part of the season," Razzano said. "I didn't play Beijing, and didn't really expect to play well until Tokyo and Bangkok, so I'm pleasantly surprised and excited to play so well this week."

Razzano earned $25,855.

The 34-year-old Obziler was playing in her first career final. Her best previous finishes were semifinal appearances at this event last season, and at the Bangalore Open in February.
