COL FB: Southern Cal 27, Washington 24

SEATTLE, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- David Buehler's 33-yard fourth-quarter field goal gave mistake-prone No. 1 Southern California a 27-24 Pac-10 win over Washington Saturday night.

John David Booty went 20-for-37 for 236 yards and one touchdown, with two interceptions. Stafon Johnson rushed for 122 yards and Chauncey Washington picked up 106 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans (4-0, 2-0) -- who were penalized 16 times for 161 yards, and didn’t have the victory in hand until they recovered an onside kick with less than a minute left to play.

Jake Locker connected on 13-of-28 passes for 90 yards and one interception, and ran for 50 yards and two TDs for the Huskies (2-3, 0-3).

With USC up, 24-14, late in the third quarter, Washington drove for a 37-yard Ryan Perkins field goal early in the fourth to get within a touchdown. The Huskies defense held and the Trojans punted with 7:16 left -- but USC stripped the ball from Washington punt returner Anthony Russo, and scored on the possession, on Buehler's 33-yarder.
