Report: Pacers player misses court date

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Indiana Pacers forward Shawne Williams Friday missed a scheduled appearance at a Marion County, Ind. Superior Court after a recent arrest.

Williams was arrested Sept. 11 during a traffic stop, and charged with operating a vehicle while never having received a license, a misdemeanor, and two traffic citations, driving with expired license plates and failing to signal a lane change, the Indianapolis Star said.

Judge Linda E. Brown ordered Williams to return to court Monday afternoon, else be arrested on a contempt charge.

"I guess I’ll have to walk him over there (on Monday)," Pacers president Larry Bird told reporters.

"I don't know where Shawne is. I called him and couldn’t get hold of him. I understand that he didn't show up. We’ll handle it internally and it’s just another thing that’s put on my plate."

Two passengers in the car were arrested on marijuana possession and handgun charges.
